Meet the Crew

No engine means every sailor aboard pulls their weight, on the sheets and on the pedals. Here's who's getting Wanderer ready for the WA360 and R2AK. More crew profiles are on the way.

Tim started out as a self-taught dinghy sailor on inland lakes long before he stepped onto a keelboat. He took his first keelboat course in Annapolis in the summer of 2022, and since then he's logged more than 140 races, over 90 of them as skipper.

He learned the ropes on the Chesapeake, skippering Rainbow 24s for two full summer seasons and picking up asymmetrical spinnaker work on Tartan 245s. After moving to Seattle, he crewed on J/80s and J/105s through 2025, then took the helm of the J/80 Raven for 2026, racing her more than 50 times in the Ballard Cup, CYCS Sound Wednesdays, the SYC Grand Prix and the Whidbey Island Classic. Along the way he's worked through ASA's keelboat, coastal cruising and bareboat courses, and he finished coastal navigation at Starpath this fall, which should come in handy on the Inside Passage.

Off the water, Tim is a technology executive who has spent more than 25 years building software and the teams behind it, most of them in education. He's currently CTO of WorldQuant Learning and was previously Chief Product and Technology Officer at Blackboard. He's a father of three with his partner, Jenny. In addition to sailing, he spends his free time hiking, reading and cooking for friends and family, which may be the most useful skill on a 29-foot boat with a crew of six.
